# Sources, rights, and regeneration

This package is an editable geographic reconstruction, not photogrammetry, a survey, or an authoritative cadastral inventory. Data from different dates and methods are not interchangeable.

The Seoul geometry derives from the Geofabrik South Korea 2026-10-20 extract: https://download.geofabrik.de/asia/south-korea.html . Additional footprints were clipped, deduplicated against OSM, screened, and assigned estimated heights. Imagery dates are 2020–2022, not the model creation date. See data/footprints_additional attribution and conflation documents.
- Seoul Metropolitan Government, building-register title records OA-22424: https://data.seoul.go.kr/dataList/OA-22424/S/1/datasetView.do , Korea Open Government License Type 1 (attribution). Conservative address/geometry matches and collection dates are retained. Exported fields exclude owners and private contact information. Most source collection dates are 2024-11-19; later records extend through 2026-10-21. Collection date is not survey date or approval date.
- Historical Mapzen/Tilezen terrain composite, https://registry.opendata.aws/terrain-tiles/ . Preserve the supplied data/terrain/tilezen_attribution.md. SRTM data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey. Ground filtering, shoreline clipping, local pond elevations, and the assumed Han level are model adaptations, not measured bare-earth or hydrological data.
- Landmark reference URLs and viewing scope are documented in references/*.md. Third-party reference photographs, videos, web pages, and architectural drawings are not redistributed as textures or source images.

The combined building database preserves source identities; no blanket unrestricted license is asserted over third-party inputs. Original procedural geometry/scripts are supplied for editing, with third-party data obligations unchanged. Noncommercial experimental global height layers and raw national downloads are excluded.

## Regeneration from the curated source pack
Saved Blender files open without Python auto-execution or external downloads. Leave Blender auto-run disabled. Only run the included manual loader after reading it if you want its district controls.

For regeneration, use an already installed Blender 4.3.2-compatible executable and Python with NumPy. Do not launch all districts concurrently on a small-memory machine. The supplied processed terrain meshes avoid a requirement to rerun GDAL preprocessing.

1. Extract all desired model/source packs into the same directory; they share one Seoul_Reconstruction_v06 root. Preserve models/districts, assets, data, references, scripts, and delivery relative paths.
2. Run scripts/partition_district_sources.py with Python to derive per-district building/road files from the curated source JSONL/JSON.
3. Run scripts/make_overview_proxy.py with Python.
4. Run Blender in background with SEOUL_MODE=common and scripts/build_city.py, then SEOUL_MODE=overview. On a POSIX shell, scripts/build_districts.sh sequentially builds the 25 district libraries. Do not use the unbounded default master mode on a memory-limited computer.
5. Run scripts/finalize_overview.py and scripts/finalize_metadata.py with Blender, then scripts/validate_package.py and scripts/validate_districts.py. Read script arguments/default paths first.

GDAL/OGR and, for selected meshing scripts, SciPy are needed only for optional geographic/landmark preprocessing. The prepared DDP and canopy geometry is supplied, so those preprocessors are not required simply to build or open the model. No installer, account access, API credentials, or network operation is required to open the delivered model. Rebuilding may differ slightly with Blender/math-library versions. The validation reports describe the saved release, not an arbitrary later rebuild.
